IQ Release Notes — 2023
2023.11.12.1
SenseiControlsV1 (2023.11.04.1), Kaizen (2023.11.08.2) and Atsumeru (2023.11.12.1) Solutions released to 🚂GA on 14 November 2023
New and Improved:
-
#785, #786, #787, #788, #793, #812: Reporting Uplift Phase 1 - Upgrade Dataverse Connector (Requires Manual Update)All of our embedded Power BI reports have had their connectors switched from the legacy CDS connector to the new recommended "Dataverse" connector. This allows for a reduction in query count, better access to related table column data and longer shelf-life in terms of support.
-
#807, #808, #845, #846, #854 : Idea Approval FlowWe've introduced a new cloud flow that will allow users to submit an idea for approval. The Challenge sponsor can then review and approve or reject, and if approved, a new "Business Case" will be created using key data from the idea including the name, description, department, investment category, and proposal costs (estimated cost from idea). The owner of the idea will act as the "requestor" in this case, and the outcome and outcome comments are stored on the idea for reporting and future reference.
-
#857, #858: Enhancements to Project Approval and Proposal Approval cloud flowsWe've updated these cloud flows to utilize the "Project Manager" on the business case and "Owner" on the proposal as the "requestor" in the approval process. This allows for the approvers to clearly see who is responsible for the initiative at the time of the approval.
-
#842, #863: Darken Color of Timesheet Days with no capacity (UserBack)We heard from several clients through UserBack that the color of the non-working days (days with no capacity) on the timesheet was too light and couldn't be distinguished from the other "working" days. We reviewed several colors and opted for a light grey that was part of the grid already. Now the non-working days are more clearly visible and recognizable.
-
#726: Remove "Delete" option for External SystemsThe "Delete" button has been removed for external systems. This was done to avoid the complex recreation of data that ships with Sensei IQ by default in the case that a system was accidentally deleted. Don't worry, external systems that aren't used by your organization can still be deactivated.
-
#754: Autofill "0" for already committed Resource Requests (UserBack)You can now use the autofill feature as a resource manager to autofill re-proposed values that are more OR less than the original committed value down to a value of 0.
-
#792, #800, #868, #871: New Tooltips on Resource Demand Grids (UserBack)We've introduced new tooltips on all Resource Grids where users can get more information about the resource or project. We heard from you that it would be useful to understand what stage of the project lifecycle the project was in as well as how much effort remaining and percent complete when approving resource demand so we've included the following fields in the tooltips - for Projects: Name, Project Manager, Current Stage, Start, Finish, Effort Remaining, Percent Complete and for Resources: Name, Line Manager, Primary Role, Department, Target Utilization.
-
#802, #825, #826: New Column on Key Date for "Category"There is now a key date category column on the key date table that allows a user to specify the category for any individual key date. Default options include: Commencement, Approval, External Dependency, Outage or Blackout, Go-live, and Completion. The Key Dates views for "All Active Key Dates", "All Completed Key Dates", "My Projects Key Dates" and "All Key Dates" have also been updated to show the category, and the "My Projects" Canvas app has been updated to allow for the display and update of the Key Date Category. In addition, the "Key Dates" page in the Project IQ insights report has also been updated to show the category in various visualizations (reporting change requires a manual update).
-
#795, #828, #834, #861: Model driven app view improvementsThe following views have been updated in the following ways for these reasons: The "All Active Business Cases" view and "All Business Cases" view now show the Priority Score for the Business Cases so that users can quickly recognize higher priority business cases. The "All Challenges" and "All Active Challenges" views have been updated to remove an unused column (sensei_area) and added "Department" and improved column spacing for better readability. The "All Ideas" and "All Active Ideas" views have been updated to show the following columns: Name, Related Challenge, Risk Score, Effort Score, Impact Score, Owner, Status. This is to improve quick viewing of all ideas across challenges. All the views that are used in the "My Projects" canvas app have been updated to only show items that are considered "Active". The "active" statuses are by default the following: Deliverables: "In Progress", "Not Started", Risks: "Active", Issues: "Active", Decisions: "Active", Change Requests: "On Hold", "New", "Submitted", Key Dates: All statuses except for "Done", The "My Active Change Requests" and "All Active Change Requests" now exclude "Approved" change requests and the "All Closed Change Requests" now includes "Approved".
-
#747, #803, #838: Teams app ImprovementsThe sort order has been set for app views including KPI to sort by KPI and improved default column widths to properly show the data contained in the column with minimal scrolling and manual column width adjustments. The "new project" button on the "Business Cases" app tab has been set to keep the user in Teams and allow for the creation of a new business case without redirecting to the Sensei IQ model-driven app.
-
#751: Project Online Task Sync Dataflow Improvements (Requires Manual Update)We've optimized the dataflow for Project Online task sync, including the removal of "timesheet administrative items", "unassigned" and "generic local" resources from assignments, and improved the performance and overall reliability of the sync process.
Fixes:
-
#832 (UserBack): Fixed an issue using the "Old Look" (Power Apps UI from pre-2023 Wave 2) where the Project "Status" dropdown menu appeared behind the flyout on the "Resources" tabs.
-
#848 (Direct client communication): Fixed the "Overdue" project finish date formatting in the Project views that format the finish date in red with white text if the finish is in the past. Aligned with the other dates and updated the font size to match the other dates.
-
#766 (Direct client communication): Resolved an issue in Timesheet to Finance sync where timesheet actuals were not being translated into financial costs in some instances.
-
#878: Resolved an issue where occasionally an error was visible in the status bar for "My Projects" due to a incorrect view reference.
-
#879, #887: Fixed inconsistent visibility of BPF and Form Tabs based on Project Type. This resolves an issue where under some circumstances, the BPF and related forms were not visible for a specific project when refreshing.
-
Added plugin steps to "SetCurrentStage" for Business Case project type. Now, the sensei_currentstage column will have the current stage value for business case projects updated on the sensei_project record.
2023.07.28.1
Kaizen and Atsumeru (2023.07.28.1) Solutions released to 🚂GA on 31 July 2023 (No change to SenseiControlsV1)
New and Improved:
-
#708, #727, #731, #745: My Projects in Sensei IQA new companion app for Sensei IQ has been released that is accessible from the 'Projects' area (and also available in Teams). The 'My Projects' app will show Key Dates, Issues, Risks, Changes, Decisions, Deliverables and overdue tasks, late tasks and tasks due in the next two weeks on projects that you manage (you're the "Project Manager"), in Sensei IQ. You can manage all but the latter in the app itself, updating key information or details. For Tasks, a link to the corresponding execution tool is provided so that you can update and modify those items directly in the work management application. The app allows for filtering by Project, Person assigned, Statuses and Dates.
-
#647, #648, #690: Project Scoring and Prioritization (Reporting Requires Manual Update)We've heard repeatedly that our clients need a straightforward and easy-to-use method for scoring new projects (business cases) and then prioritizing those projects based on score, cost and resource demand. To provide this capability, we've introduced the "Project Scoring" tab that is available on select project types (business case by default). Once business cases have been scored against four key "Impact Areas" they can be reviewed against each other in the "Portfolio IQ - Intake" report and the priorities, budget and resource demand can be analyzed to provide insights which projects can be successfully committed for execution. Please see our accompanying video here for more details on how this new feature works.
-
#549: Delete Protection on New EntitiesThrough UserBack, we heard from several clients that it would be beneficial to have the same "delete protection" offered on Projects also offered on Resources to make it more difficult to accidentally delete a resource. We've added the delete protection for the Bookable Resources, as well as Programs and Portfolios.
-
#636, #749, #750, #756: View Optimization (Sensei IQ and Sensei IQ Teams App)In order to better showcase data related to specific types of entities (business cases) and better display data from multiple headline entities in the Sensei IQ Teams app, we've updated a number of model-driven app views and Teams app tab view default columns and widths to better display the respective data. Most notably, the Business Case app tab is added to the default Sensei IQ Teams app tabs with corresponding business case data.
-
#710, #719: Enhanced "My Work" Canvas App with Assigned to for TasksWe added the ability to view the "Assigned To" resources (up to 20) for tasks in the My Work in Sensei IQ app. This would be useful if you are the "Created by" user for these tasks and want to see who is assigned.
Fixes:
-
#663: Resolved an issue where the web resource for the "My Work" app wasn't dynamically able to find the content URL in GCC tenants for the canvas app.
-
#721: Fixed an issue where In-App Toast notifications continued to appear after dismissal for users in some Sensei IQ security roles.
-
#689: Resolved an issue where the group "Description" was used as the Team name for the headline entity when populated in the Sensei IQ group picker control.
-
We've made it easier to access the UserBack portal. Now on the Feedback dialog, there is a fourth option to "Access UserBack Portal" where you can review and vote on existing Sensei IQ Product ideas.
2023.05.04.1
SenseiControlsV1 (2023.05.02.1), Kaizen and Atsumeru (2023.05.04.1) Solutions released to 🚂GA on 8 May 2023
New and Improved:
-
#531: My Work in Sensei IQA new companion app for Sensei IQ has been released that is accessible from the 'Work' area. The 'My Work' app will show Issues, Risks, Changes, Decisions, Deliverables and Tasks that you've been assigned, created or own in Sensei IQ. You can manage all but the latter in the app itself, updating key information or progress. For Tasks, a link to the corresponding execution tool is provided so that you can update and modify those items directly in the work management application.
-
#461, #462, #463: Business Case Project TypeThrough client focus sessions, we learned that creating new initiatives that allow for financial planning, group integration and artifact collaboration was very important to our clients. We now have a method for doing just that with 'Business Cases'. The Business Case project type will be a new type that clients can select out of the box, with an abbreviated workflow that allows for the conversion of the business case into a new project type after approval.
-
#460: Paginated 'Project Summary Report' (Manual update)Sensei's clients often have a need to create ad hoc project 'playbook' reports that may include a subset of projects from a portfolio or program, or that are sponsored by a specific set of individuals or managed by a group of project managers. This report is available from the 'Projects' area, 'Project Report' link and allows a user to select a set of values from various parameters to create a paginated report that includes details and stats from all projects meeting the filter criteria.
-
#604: Moved Sensei Configuration Settings to the default position in the Settings areaAs most pages in the Settings area are meant for initial setup of a Sensei IQ deployment, it made more sense to move the Sensei Configuration Settings, which can be used more frequently, to the default position in this area.
-
#630: Optimized 'My Open Project Tasks' ViewUpdated the 'My Open Project Tasks' view (the default view on the Tasks in the Work area) to show tasks from Planner, DevOps and Jira. The view now will include tasks with 0 remaining work, and tasks where the percent complete is empty (these would likely be synced tasks from "agile/board" task management systems.
Fixes:
-
#589: Resolved an issue where the time-columns for Resource Request screens were not frozen when vertically scrolling.
-
#585: Fixed an issue where "Create" on the new project pane was disabled when switching from a different external system to "None".
-
#571: Updated Resource Request notifications to trigger in cases where resource requests are changed or submitted. When resource requests are changed, the PM should get a notification. When resource requests are submitted the RM should get a notification. When resource requests are pending (waiting for approval - after 24 hours) the RM should get a notification.
-
#605: (Manual update) Fixed an issue with the DevOps dataflow that began occurring where if a source system didn't have the minimum number of records for pagination, the data wouldn't load.
2023.02.28.5
SenseiControlsV1 (2023.02.28.5), Kaizen and Atsumeru (2023.02.25.1) Solutions released to 🚂GA on 27 Feb 2023
New and Improved:
-
#473, #475: Filter Updates to Power BI Reports (Manual update)We've listened to client feedback through UserBack and added two key filters to the Project IQ Insights (Program Filter) and Resource IQ Insights (Line Manager Filter) reports. Both filters are available on the filters pane for the report. Note - Power BI reports require a replacement with the new version to receive these updates.
-
#513: Project Online Dataflow Improvements (Manual update)Another item we heard feedback from our clients about was the fact that Project Online assigns tasks that do not have any resources on them to the "Unassigned Resource" and tasks assigned to local resources in project schedules show as assigned to "Generic Local Resource" in Project Online. As these "assignments" provided no value to Sensei IQ users, we've filtered these out of our dataflow sync, so they will no longer clutter views/reports that display this information in Sensei IQ.
-
#471: Enforce Unique Names for Timesheet PeriodsClient feedback was that allowing for timesheet periods with the same names presented problems when viewing timesheet data. We've created a key constraint that will prevent timesheet periods from being created with the same name. If your organization currently has periods with duplicate names, the key will be created but not activated.
-
#505: Auto-approve Resource Request if Proposed = CommittedEnhanced the behavior of the resource request for users that often change committed requests by resubmitting proposed time. If the resubmitted proposed value matches the already committed value on the same request, the request will be auto-approved for that period.
Fixes:
-
#470: Resolved an issue caused by a Microsoft update where the BPF visualization overlapped the finance, task and resource grids when in full-screen mode.
-
#470: Resolved an issue caused by a Microsoft update where the Resource Demand grid header overlapped the filters pane, Power Apps meus, and bookable resource quick create pane.
-
#517: Changed the behavior for how resubmitted resource requests interact with calendar exceptions. Previously calendar exceptions added for a resource after a request was committed would "lock" the days, preventing the committed time from being changed. Now if re-submitting proposed time on a request after a calendar exception is added, users will see the committment for the days of the exception zeroed out.
-
#518: Fixed an issue where the resource request did not have the correct status and failed to trigger toast notifications to the end users.
-
#477: Fixed an issue where security roles inherited from Dynamics Teams did not provide appropriate privileges to Sensei IQ Teams App screens.
-
#503: Resolved an issue caused by a Microsoft change that resulted in the percent complete bars on Project, Task and Program views displaying a duplicated percent complete value in the bar and tooltip.
