2026.02.28.1
SenseiControlsV1 (2026.02.28.1), Kaizen (2026.02.14.4), and Atsumeru (2026.02.14.6) Solutions released on 24 February 2026
New and Improved:
-
#3165, #3163, #3164, #3166, #1237: Support for Asana as External Sync SystemWe've added support for Asana as a new external work management system. This integration enables organizations to synchronize Projects, Tasks, and Assignments from Asana into Sensei IQ. Users can view synced data and report time against Asana projects and tasks within the Timesheet experience while maintaining Sensei IQ as their system-of-record for resource management, portfolio reporting, and cross-system analytics. The integration leverages our flexible data acquisition layer, allowing for out-of-the-box deployment with minimal setup, while also supporting client-specific adaptations through configurable dataflows when needed.
-
#3165, #3163, #3164, #3166, #3167: Support for Wrike as External Sync SystemContinuing our expansion of external work management tool connectivity, we've added support for Wrike as an external sync system. Organizations using Wrike for project execution can now synchronize Projects, Tasks, and Assignments into Sensei IQ, enabling cross-system visibility and unified timesheeting. This integration follows the same configurable approach as our other external system connectors, balancing ease of adoption with enterprise flexibility.
-
#3165, #3163, #3164, #3166, #3168: Support for Trello as External Sync SystemWe've expanded our external system connectivity to include Trello, allowing organizations to synchronize Projects (Boards), Tasks (Cards), and Assignments from Trello into Sensei IQ. This integration is designed to be out-of-the-box and configurable, enabling teams to continue using Trello for execution while leveraging Sensei IQ for timesheets, portfolio reporting, and resource visibility across multiple work management platforms.
-
#2965: Removal of Out-of-the-Box "New" Button on Timesheet ViewsRemoved the default model-driven app "New" button from timesheet views. Timesheets are now created exclusively through Sensei IQ's intended workflows, preventing invalid or confusing manual record creation that required users to populate technical fields such as resource and period IDs. This change ensures a more consistent and guided timesheet creation experience.
-
#4402: Entity Group Picker Consistency Across Program and Portfolio FormsEnsured the Entity Group Picker is present on all form tabs, in a hidden but loaded state, for Program and Portfolio entities. This prevents the picker from disappearing when users refresh the page on non-default tabs, ensuring consistent association with Microsoft 365 Groups regardless of which tab users are viewing.
-
#4401: Removal of Power BI Embedding V2 Duplicate Sitemap LinksRemoved duplicate sitemap links created during the transition to Power BI Embedding Version 2. Since no clients adopted the V2 embedding method, eliminating these links reduces the risk of duplicate navigation items appearing if configuration-based scripts fail to load. Clients wishing to adopt V2 in the future can be supported through consultant-led sitemap customization.
-
#4405: Direct Documentation Link in Sensei IQ SettingsAdded a sitemap link in the Sensei IQ Settings area that directs administrators to the Sensei IQ documentation site. This improves discoverability of admin-focused guidance without requiring users to manually track or bookmark URLs, making it easier for administrators to access help documentation when configuring the system.
-
#4412: Enhance Add Request Demand Distribution for Resources Without CapacityImproved the "Add Request" functionality to work with resources that do not have defined capacity by using calendar working days for distribution. This enhancement ensures that resource requests can be added for all resource types, providing a smooth experience when building resource demand plans across different resource categories.
-
#4718: Due Date Calendar for Exception ReportingWe've released a new Power BI Calendar Visualization that allows organizations to see date-driven artifacts in a calendar view across all work types. This visual is part of our update to the Project IQ Insights report, speak with your Sensei Engagement Lead to implement. More details on our blog post here.
Minor Changes and Fixes:
-
#2605: Fixed issues where certain sitemap links were not correctly scoped to settings entities, resulting in users seeing areas they did not have permission to access.
-
#2606: Corrected an issue where availability and target availability values were displayed as hours when viewing the heatmap in FTE or %FTE mode. Values now correctly reflect the selected unit of measure, providing accurate representation of resource capacity regardless of the view mode selected.
-
#1497: Resolved an issue with Dataverse configuration setting retrieval when using JSON schema forms, improving the reliability of configuration management and ensuring settings are correctly loaded and applied across the application.
A minor issue related to config settings with no default value affected new deployments (not existing clients), and so a new Controls V1 solution (after v2026.02.14.6) was released to ensure that consultants configuring new deployments had less friction when doing so. Any existing clients remaining on v2026.02.14.6 can either update with the newly released solution or remain on this version — there is no impact to existing deployments.
2025.11.06.1
SenseiControlsV1, Kaizen, and Atsumeru (2025.11.06.1) Solutions released on 10 November 2025
New and Improved:
-
#1581: Move Validation Banner on "Add Request" to Tooltip on Add ButtonWe've refined the "Add Request" experience by moving the validation banner to a contextual tooltip on the Add button. This small but meaningful UI improvement reduces on-screen clutter and keeps the focus on key actions in the Resource Demand interface.
-
#1575: Hold User on "Add Request" Dialog Until Request Is AddedTo reduce confusion and ensure requests are properly saved, users will now remain on the Add Request dialog until the request has been successfully added. This usability enhancement prevents accidental navigation away before completion.
-
#1574: Add Warning Banner or Dialog When Adding Existing Resource to PlanWe've added an error-prevention dialog that notifies users when they attempt to add a resource already present in the plan. This helps prevent duplication and ensures data accuracy when building resource plans.
-
#1555, #1616, #1638: Change FTE and %FTE Calculation to Use Days With Capacity for Each ResourceThe %FTE and FTE calculations have been updated to use only the working days where each resource has defined capacity, resulting in a more accurate representation of utilization. This ensures that non-working days, exceptions, and calendar gaps are automatically excluded from the calculation. See the full article detailing this change here..
-
#1558: "Variance" Menu Options Persisted in Session Storage for FinancialsTo make the financial review experience more consistent, the Variance menu selections are now persisted across sessions. Users will no longer need to re-select their preferred options when navigating between financial views.
-
#1488: Default Change Request Cost Estimate to 0To ensure that all Change Requests appear in reports, even when no cost estimate is provided, new Change Requests will now default to a cost estimate of 0. This change improves consistency and aligns with user expectations for financial reporting.
-
#1532: Allow Custom Lookups to Resource Request TooltipWe've enhanced configurability by allowing custom lookup fields that use either the default
sensei_or customization-layeriq_prefixes to be included in Resource Request tooltips. This enables more flexible extension of tooltips through the enhancement layer. -
#1541: Move EGP so That Form Assist Doesn't OverlayThe placement of the Entity Group Picker (EGP) has been adjusted to prevent overlap with the Form Assist feature, improving visibility and usability when working on project forms.
-
#1565: EGP and EPP Should Appear on All Project FormsTo improve consistency across project experiences, both the Entity Group Picker (EGP) and Entity People Picker (EPP) are now available on all project forms.
-
#1593, #1595, #1592, #1594: Support Project Server Subscription Edition (PSSE) as External Sync SystemWith Microsoft announcing the end of life for Project Online, we've added support for Project Server Subscription Edition (PSSE) as a new external sync system. This integration allows organizations to synchronize Tasks and Projects from PSSE into Sensei IQ, enabling users to view synced data and report time against PSSE projects and tasks within the Timesheet experience. Please work with your Sensei Engagement Lead to enable this feature if your organization plans to use PSSE.
-
#1588: Minor Resource IQ Insights RevisionsWe've made several refinements to the Resource IQ Insights dashboard, including improved labeling, visual alignment, and minor filter enhancements to help users interpret data more effectively.
-
#1600: Set Default Sort Order on Project Type and External System to "Sort" ColumnTo standardize how project types and external systems are displayed, the default sort order now uses the "Sort" column. This ensures a consistent and predictable order across administrative and reporting views.
Minor Changes and Fixes:
-
#1544: Resolved an issue where, at the daily zoom level, the "Add Request" action could become stuck on "Processing Zoom Change." This fix improves reliability and responsiveness when working in the daily view.
-
#1589: Removed non-functional "click to copy" for Project Rows in Resource Demand.
-
#1618: Fixed a rounding issue that was resulting in minor fractions of cost not being imported through Resource Plan to Finance Sync.
-
#1674: Resolved a display issue where in FTE or %FTE mode, when a fulfillment resource was exactly allocated to capacity, the availability and target avilability displayed incorrect values.

2025.08.26.3
SenseiControlsV1 (2025.08.26.1), Kaizen (2025.08.26.3) and Atsumeru (2025.08.26.1) Solutions released on 26 August 2025
This update is a critical interim release to provide a fix to to the continued Task Syncing issue identified by clients. Expect another release later in Q3 focused on Usability and Experience improvements.Fixes:
-
#1554 We've implemented changes to improve the stability of external data synchronization into Sensei IQ. A recent Microsoft platform update affected how Power Apps Dataflows handle field values during updates and deletes. In some cases, critical identifiers (like External Task IDs) were not passed to our plugins, resulting in sync failures or missing data. To address this, we've updated all plugin steps to include fallbacks to pass parameters from alternate entities and Post Images, allowing backup methods access to necessary values even when they're omitted from incoming data. Additional validation and logging have been added to identify edge cases where fields may still be stripped during Dataflow processing.
2025.08.01.3
SenseiControlsV1 (2025.08.01.1), Kaizen (2025.08.01.3) and Atsumeru (2025.08.01.2) Solutions released on 6 August 2025
New and Improved:
-
#1314, #1315, #1464: Power BI Upgrades: Embedding Method (Userback)We heard from our clients that the requirement to frequently sign in to Power BI for our embedded reports was not the best experience, so we are now providing a modernized option to utilize embedded Power BI "System Dashboards" as opposed to iframed Power BI pages. This option can be enabled through the Sensei Configuration Setting "Embedding Method". Please work with your Sensei engagement lead to properly configure this embedding method if your organization wants to utilize it.
-
#1334: Improve Calendar Exception Management: Recurring Exceptions (Userback)We've made it easier for administrators or individual users who need to set up single-day recurring (monthly or annual) calendar exceptions (holidays) to do so. Using our "Make Recurring" option, users can now set up a recurrence pattern for frequent exceptions, and have those exceptions automatically generated. There is a recommended limit of 60 recurrences for best performance. In addition to the recurrence patterns, we also now jump the "To" date to the user selected "From" date when setting up an exception, so that if the exception is far into the future, the user only needs to scroll through the calendar once. Note, these patterns are a starting point for administrators to manage exceptions in a more effective manner, but if you'd like to see specific patterns added to this feature, please let us know through Userback!
Demonstrated in the video above. -
#1382, #1383, #1384: Ability to control visibility of the components of the Project, Program and Portfolio Status PCF controls (Userback)Organizations that do not use our "Status" components (like percent complete, effort, or KPIs) for their projects, programs or portfolios now have the option to turn these components off on the respective forms. This was another request from the Sensei IQ user community that we were able to put into place.
Demonstrated in the video above. -
#1393: Ability to relabel "Variance" in the Project Financials Grid and Controls (Userback)Clients requested the ability to relabel the term "Variance" in the financials grid, so we made this possible through the existing configuration setting for "Variance Settings". A long label and short label (abbreviation) can be specified.
-
#1392: Persistence of View Options for Project Financials (Userback)We are persisting the selection of view options within the Financials control when users view financials for any given project. If certain columns are turned off/on, this will persist for that user across projects so long as the browser can cache their choices.
-
#1397: Available Non-Project Time Categories optionally filtered for DepartmentWe've now made it possible for organizations to limit the non-project time categories that are available to their timesheet users by department. With an optional toggle in the "Timesheet" setting, users will only see the non-project time categories that either have no department specified or that align to their resource department.
Demonstrated in the video above. -
#1399: Delete Protection has been enabled for Enterprise CalendarsWe have enabled our standard delete protection confirmation dialog on all enterprise calendars as accidental deletion of calendars and associated exceptions was becoming an issue for clients. In addition, we are permanently protecting the "Default" calendar. It can be renamed and reconfigured, but cannot be deleted.
-
#1402, #1521: Updated Views for Bookable ResourcesThe bookable resource views have been updated to streamline accessing resources that most resource managers care about. We've removed the "External" resources from the "Active Bookable Resources" view, and added new views that show "All Named Resources", "All Generic Resources" and "All External Resources". We've also fixed a small bug in the "Linked External Resources" view so that only external and linked resources will appear here.
-
#1403: Provide Configuration Setting for "+ Add" menus in Resource Demand and PlanWe've made it possible for organizations with custom resource types to include those types in the "Add Resource" and "Add Request" menus. NOTE: our recommendation is to only allow for the addition of NAMED resources (or resources with capacity) to the Resource Demand page for best experience. To use this feature, the inactive setting "Resource Types for Add Menus" should be activated and configured. NOTE: resources without capacity will not have hours spread, as there is no capacity on any days to allocate demand to, and instead a blank row will be added for those resources.
-
#1422: Disable Mouse Wheel input for Timesheet Cell Increase/Decrease (Userback)We heard from you that the scrolling on a timesheet was difficult as if a timesheet cell was selected, using the scroll wheel on a mouse would increase or decrease the value instead of scrolling up or down on the timesheet. We've disabled this as an input, and also changed the "step" for the value increase/decrease by clicking the arrows to a whole hour instead of a tenth of an hour.
-
#1400: New Dataflow Templates for Task Sync for Project Online and Planner PremiumTo optimize the data retrieved and synced to Sensei IQ from the most-used external systems, we've adjusted our default templates to only synchronize tasks and assignments from projects in the external system that are connected to Sensei IQ projects. This drastically reduces the amount of data each dataflow run needs to process. This is a manual update that your Sensei Engagement Lead can assist you with if requested.
-
#1420: Named Resources with Linked External Resources will display the system iconsTo better visualize resources that have linked external resources, we are showing the system icons on the "All Active Resources" view and on the bookable resource form as a table (subgrid).Demonstrated in the video above.
-
#1446: External System Icon will display on Timesheet row for Project or Task that is linkedThe icon for the external system linked to a project or task on a timesheet row will now appear there, as well as give the timesheet user an opportunity to click through to the project or task (provided the system supports the link) to update the task directly in the source system after entering timesheet hours.Demonstrated in the video above.
-
#1447: Enhancements to "Active External Projects" and "Active External Systems" viewsContinuing with the enhancements to display external system icons, we've ensured that the "Active External Systems" views show the icons for the systems that they represent, and we've added a direct link from the "Active External Projects" view for admins so that they can access the external plan / schedule in the external system.
-
#1348: Improvements to the "Project Summary" Paginated ReportWe've improved the template for our Project Summary report by adding pages at the end of the report that will show the artifact details for the group of projects selected. This includes Key Dates, Deliverables, Issues, Risks, Change Requests and Decisions. This is a manual update that your Sensei Engagement Lead can assist you with if requested.
Minor Changes and Fixes:
-
#1374 Order the External Systems on the External Project Picker control by the "Sort Order" column for the External Systems table. This works best when using like formatting, for example (01, 02, 03, etc…).
-
#1386 Allow for date(null) filter parameter to work with Status Summary custom tiles.
-
#1387 We now inherit the default system currency symbol for the "Change Request Summary" PCF control that is shown on the Project "Changes" form tab.
-
#1401 We've restored the "lock" icon on the first row of tiles on the Status Update form after a small "resizing" feature hid the icons.
-
#1404 We've fixed a bug in the "Forecast" tile of the Status Update form that was preventing the correct value from being shown and instead showed either a spinning icon (on creation) or "NA" (after creation).
-
#1407 To utilize more accepted terminology and lessen client confusion, we've changed the term on user-facing controls from "External Project" to "External Plan/Schedule". This more accurately reflects the usage of external sync systems.
-
#1414 As an extreme edge case, we found that "Add Request" wasn't working as expected when organizations had calendars that accumulated exceptions to the point that every day within a year was an exception day. We've resolved this.
-
#1390 For new Sensei IQ deployments, we've renamed the settings and grouping for Proposal Team/Channel to Approval Team/Channel to more accurately reflect the purpose of the Team/Channel.
-
#1411 Our M365 Group Picker control (commonly referred to as the entity group picker - EGP) now has a filter applied to only show "Unified" Microsoft groups (excluding security groups and other group types).
-
#1412 We've updated the recommended patterns used for Planner and Planner Premium to align to Microsoft's announced deprecation of the project.microsoft.com endpoint. Note, only new Sensei IQ deployments will receive this update by default, please work with your engagement lead to update your patterns if needed.
-
#1405 For better consistency of links, the External Project Picker control now will use the stored sensei_url value from the External Project record instead of creating the url on the fly.
-
#1413, #1504 Resolved an issue where the optional configuration setting for "Disable Role Propagation" was not working as expected and roles were still propagated in some scenarios. Note - additional configuration/customization will be required here to continue to utilize Planner Basic sync and sharing scenarios.
-
#1389, #1491, #1507 The Teams app has had some minor improvements to assist with persistent login prompts (to ensure user is signed in), loading of the new project experience and we've added the version number to the app for ease of identification.
-
#1456, #1522 In some cases Availability and Target Availability was not totaling to the correct value on the grouping level using the resource plan. This has been resolved.
-
#1461 We've removed the unnecessary "New" Option when selecting a value from an External Resource using the "Related Resource" lookup column.
-
#1455 Fix minor rounding bug for the Financials in the Fetch XML Project Status Report.
-
#1477 Minor adjustments to Deliverables views to remove unused columns.
-
#1521 Update "Linked External Resources" view to apply filters correctly.
-
#1517 Implement Post Image as fallback due to Microsoft optimization of dataflow to plugin "update" steps. NOTE - This update is critical for continued uninterrupted synchronization of project and task data from external systems.

Sensei IQ System Overview
2025.03.11.3
SenseiControlsV1 (2025.03.11.3), Kaizen and Atsumeru (2025.03.08.1) Solutions released on 11 March 2025
New and Improved:
-
#1177, #1272, #1273: Status Summary PCF Upgrades (Userback)We've upgraded the Status Summary PCF Control, which appears as a visualization on Portfolio, Program and Project Decisions, Deliverables and Issues by default. The enhancements include cross filtering to the related subgrid (list) of items on the form tab, the ability to add and configure new "tiles" to display counts of items and the ability to configure a two-column tile view.
Demonstrated in the video above. -
#1264: "Task Subgrid" Improvements (Userback)We've added the external system icon to the Task Subgrid for those organizations that are using this table to view the tasks that have been synced into Sensei IQ from the external system. In addition, this icon is clickable, and as long as the pattern used for the Task URL configured in the external system is correct, clicking the icon will take the Project Manager directly to the task selected in the external system software, allowing for easy updates to the external tasks.
Demonstrated in the video above. -
#1128, #1218, #1249: Prefix options for Sensei IQ connected Teams ChannelsThere are now options to automatically prefix your teams channels with either the table name (Project, Program, Portfolio) or Project Type (Major Project, Minor Project, etc…) when they are created when associated with a Sensei IQ headline record. This will result in organization of your channels by type without needing to rename the channels.
-
#1268: Resource Request Autofill and Add Request Respect Personal Calendar ExceptionsWhile Autofill and Add Request previously would not fill or allocate on days where the enterprise calendar had an exception for a resource, personal exceptions were not observed in this process. We've adjusted this logic so that when auto filling a request, or adding a new request for a specific named resource, personal and enterprise exceptions are respected and those days do not receive an allocation.
-
#1102, #1291: Improved administrator options for quickly managing Enterprise Calendar Exceptions (Userback)We heard from you that the process for creating calendar exceptions (holidays) on multiple calendars was challenging and time consuming. We've added a new embedded feature to copy calendar exceptions from one calendar (source) to one or more target calendars. This will allow an administrator to select the exceptions they would like to copy and quickly create new calendars with the same or similar sets of exceptions or copy a new year's exceptions from one calendar to others.
Demonstrated in the video above. -
#1284: Configurable Tooltips for TimesheetsContinuing our work with providing our clients more options when it comes to viewing built-in and custom data columns on our user input screens, we've now made it possible to customize the columns displayed on the timesheet tooltips. The tooltips can be customized for non-project time categories, projects and tasks. This will allow organizations to show data specific to their needs to their timesheet users.
Demonstrated in the video above. -
#1283: Configurable Tooltips for Resource RequestsContinuing our work with providing our clients more options when it comes to viewing built-in and custom data columns on our user input screens, we've now made it possible to customize the columns displayed on the resource request tooltips. The tooltips can be customized for projects and resources. This will allow organizations to show data specific to their needs to their resource manager users. In addition, we've added the original requested resource to the fulfillment icon tooltip on the Availability Heatmap and Allocation modes.Demonstrated in the video above.
-
#1183: Configurable Tolerance for Fulfillment on Resource Demand (Userback)A particularly valuable idea came from our users through UserBack regarding making the definition of "Fulfilled" more flexible. It was suggested that we allow for a tolerance with regard to fulfilled periods, so that organizations could better manage requests that had been fulfilled, but not quite to the exact proposed value. This feature allows organizations to specify a tolerance percentage, and as long as the committed value comes within that tolerance range, the request is considered fulfilled (and shows green within the resource demand and plan pages) and will not show when using the filter option for "Show Unfulfilled Requests Only".
Demonstrated in the video above. -
#1279: View Filter Option on Resource Demand for "Unapproved" Requests (Userback)We heard that it would be beneficial to have an option for Resource Managers and Project Managers to see requests that were not fully approved (either hadn't been actioned at all or still had days that were not yet approved or set by approver). This new filter option is available on the filter options menu on both the Resource Demand and Resource Plan pages. Demonstrated in the video above.
-
#1288: New View Option on Resource Demand for "Target Availability" (UserBack)Several clients noted that it was disappointing that the "Target Utilization %" from the Resource record wasn't somehow used in calculation of availability, and instead the availability relied solely on the capacity coming from the Calendar associated to the resource. In order to cater for this use case, we've introduced a new column for "Target Availability" which allows a user to see the value of "Availability" multiplied by the "Target Utilization %". Resource Managers also now have the ability to view the "explainable" tooltip to use the Target Capacity as opposed to the Capacity by selecting the option for "Use Target Availability" on the additional view options menu and this same option will alter the Availability Heatmap to use the "Target Availability" instead of the "Availability" values in its color coding for the Heatmap.Demonstrated in the video above.
-
#1181: Added useful built-in Sensei IQ columns to Copilot's IndexTo improve Copilot's knowledge about the data stored in Sensei IQ's Dataverse, we've added the many useful columns from a number of most commonly used tables to the search index (Quick Find views). This will allow Copilot to better find and use this data when users leverage the built-in Microsoft Copilot chat for Model Driven Apps in a Q&A session on the Copilot side pane. Note that as an added benefit, the Power Apps list view search will also utilize these columns when matching search terms helping to find more relevant records.
-
#1246: Support for Collapsible Site Map (Microsoft Feature)Recently Microsoft introduced the option to set a model-driven app site map as "collapsible". This means the headings become clickable items that collapse and expand the sub areas underneath. This wasn't compatible with one of our custom links, so we've adjusted how that link (Feedback) is added to work with this feature.
-
#1329: New Bookable Resource View for "Unlinked External Resources"To assist with auditing external resources that have not yet been linked to named resources, we've created a new view on the bookable resources table that allows a Resource Manager to view any active external resources that have not been linked (using the "Related Resource" lookup) to their named resource match(es).
Fixes:
-
#1269 Fixed Status Update Alignment issue caused by New Look - In 2024 Microsoft release a "New Look" for Model-driven Power Apps which altered the alignment of the KPI rows on the Status Update form. The styling of the form was updated to re-align these KPI rows. Note that for organizations that have customized the Status Update form, there may be changes required if the number of rows in all three columns are not the same (meaning if new KPIs and Status text columns were created, but not information panel tiles, there may be misalignment if all fields are placed in the same section of the form).
-
#1285, #1286 We noted that at the daily and weekly zoom levels in some scenarios where personal calendar exceptions existed there were issues calculating correct availability on the resource demand page. This has been addressed and is calculating accurately now.
-
#1333 In some cases the filter search was not filtering out all rows not matching search terms (Project or Resource names) on the Availability Heatmap page, this has been resolved.
-
#1302 After recent updates to the Planner Channel Tab app from Microsoft, our "Tasks" tab was unable to correctly make the connection to External Planner Plans within Teams in the Project Channel. We've updated the channel tab code to support the updated Microsoft experience.
-
#1253 Some users found when connecting a project to a new group/team, they had to click "Open in Teams" twice to correctly navigate to the Teams channel for the project, and we've resolved this.
-
#1356 The "en-us" url parameter specifying US English when linking to a Planner Premium plan has been removed to support additional deployments across the globe.
-
#1357 Sensei default security roles have been updated to allow for read at the organizational level to Monday.com and Smartsheet sync tables to support easier finding and linking of external projects from these systems.
-
#1352 Add Request has been enhanced to allow for adding of a blank row for the resource specified if start, finish and allocation is left blank.
-
#1358 Web Resource Links from Landing Page Panels now allow for iq_ prefixed web resources to be selected and used.
-
#1377 Update spelling of "fulfill" on Heatmap tooltip to en-us.
-
#1367 Fix typo on description of financial item name.

WARNING! This update removes the native task management tool "IQ Schedule" from your deployment per previous communications.
New and Improved:
-
#1101, #1208, #1256: Enhancements to the "Add Request" Dialog for Resource Demand (UserBack)We've improved the ways in which you can add new resource requests from the perspective of a Project Manager (Resource Plan) and Resource Manager (Resource Demand). The enhancements include the ability to add the request and specify the number of hours, FTE or %FTE, start and finish dates and the system will allocate the request(s) accordingly. The older ways of adding requests still work the same if that is still preferred.
Demonstrated in the video above. -
#1189, #1190, #1191, #1211: Premium Connector to External Sync System: Monday.comMonday.com is now a supported external task management system for Sensei IQ using our background sync (dataflow) synchronization process. By default, the included Project columns are: project name, ID, URL, work, remaining work, actual work, description, percent complete, start date. finish date and the included Task columns are: bucket, duration, effort, effort completed, effort remaining, index, milestone, parent task ID, project ID, task ID, name, order, percent complete, priority, summary, finish date and start date.

#1192, #1212, #1213, #1214: Premium Connector to External Sync System: SmartsheetSmartsheet is now a supported external task management system for Sensei IQ using our background sync (dataflow) synchronization process. By default, the included Project columns are: project name, ID, and URL and the included Task columns are: duration, index, milestone, name, percent complete, parent task ID, project ID, task ID, summary, finish date, start date.
Demonstrated in the video above. -
#1224: Improvements to the New Project Experience, Sorting and TooltipsWe've added the ability to sort both project types and external systems by the sort order column on both records. This would allow organizations to choose how the systems and project types appear in the choice lists. In addition, the "description" for each of the above are now visible as tooltips when hovering over the name of the system and project type.Demonstrated in the video above.
-
#1255: Resource Capacity Calculation "Batching"Some work was put into optimizing our plugin that handles the resource capacity calculation jobs. In addition, we've made the operation more configurable so that we can better handle large resource pools that may not require all resource types to have capacity calculated. See the "Resource Horizon" config setting for the new options.
Demonstrated in the video above. -
#1181: Added external system name to the External Project Selector controlWhen viewing the link between a project in Sensei IQ and an external project on the Details tab of the Project form, we've added the external system name.
-
#1257, #1265: Export Options from Project FinancialsIt's now possible to generate an "on the fly" report from your project financials by exporting to Excel or CSV file. Either the current view or "All" financials can be exported, and within seconds you have a basic report to embed in a presentation or email to a collaborator.Demonstrated in the video above.
-
#1184, #1247: Allow for customized Financial Variance calculationsIt's now possible to define a new way to calculate financial variance. If your organization requires that custom cost types be included in the variance calculation or if your usage of budget, forecast and actual differs from the recommended default in Sensei IQ, an administrator can change the calculation for the organization in a basic sense from a new configuration setting.
Demonstrated in the video above. -
#1226: Configurable Tooltips for Financial ItemsA new configuration setting for "Financial Item Tooltips" allows an administrator to add custom and built in columns to a tooltip window that will appear when users hover over a financial item name in the Project Financials grid. This allows for more flexibility when customizing the behavior of project financials. Demonstrated in the video above.
-
#1140: Configuration Setting to allow organizations to hide default cost types and varianceSome organizations do not use our out of the box cost types or variance calculations, so in order to provide them the ability to hide these, we added this option to the "General" setting for Financials. Now, an admin can choose which cost types to hide including variance.Demonstrated in the video above.
-
#1174, #1242: Optional setting - Limit timesheet approval to only the Timesheet Manager of the Resource (UserBack)We heard from one of our clients that due to compliance requirements, they needed to limit the approval permissions of their timesheets to just the timesheet manager for the resource. If the timesheet manager is unable to approve, they can edit the resource record to provide a delegate.
Demonstrated in the video above. -
#1178: New Link options for Landing Page Tile links (UserBack)Another great idea that has come from you through UserBack was the idea to allow for custom links from Landing Page tiles. We have now added the ability to link to a web resource (like the "Insights" reports) or an external site from the landing page.Demonstrated in the video above.
Fixes:
-
#1103 Resolved a edge case where when adding a resource request using the "Add Request" dialog the request wouldn't be added if the availability data had not fully loaded.
-
#1206 The Change Request Summary PCF for Programs and Portfolios wasn't allowing for customizations. This is now resolved.
-
#1233 In some cases, we had channel ids for connected Teams channels not stored correctly on the corresponding entity record. We've made changes to defaults to ensure this always happens correctly.
-
#1258 When creating and completing a resource timesheet on behalf of another resource/user through the bookable resource form, timesheet tab the totals columns for the timesheet were not being calculated and left blank. We've resolved this issue.
-
#1260 For some clients, there was an issue in the calculation of the fiscal year windows for reporting. This resulted in incorrect months being displayed on one two chart visualizations in the Portfolio IQ Insights report.
-
#1263 Pre-validation Plugin Step verified. In rare cases some users were able to duplicate timesheet rows even with our initial work on this plugin step. This step has been verified to remove duplicate rows if detected.

#1004, #1092, #1112, #1148, #1153: "Scroll to Start" for Resource Request PagesFor quite some time, we've heard from users in the Resource Manager role that it was difficult to understand how to find the start dates for requests that needed to be approved. We started solving this challenge by introducing the tooltips that detail the start and end for the requests, but we wanted to provide an easier way to get to the start of a request or request group, and even take this further by providing an option that would always take the resource manager to the start of the earliest request that was unfulfilled to help make their task of review and approval easier. This feature has three main components, first is the ability to scroll to the start of a request or a request group on the row header in the ellipsis menu. The second is on the Resource Plan within a project, providing a single-click "Scroll to Start" button that will take the user to the first non-zero draft, proposed or committed request day in the resource plan. The last, and arguably most valuable feature is for the resource managers on the Resource Demand page where the user can toggle on the "Auto Scroll to Start" button and this will take them to the first proposed or committed request day for their resources and when used in conjunction with "Show Unfulfilled Requests Only", it will always take them to the first period where they have a request that needs action or approval.
Demonstrated in the video above. -
#1086, #1107, #1139, #1142, #1172, #1186, #1203, #1205: "My Time Off" for Team Members (UserBack)We heard from you that it would be beneficial to allow team members (resources) to create their own calendar exceptions. A new setting called "Calendar Exceptions" in the Resourcing category has been created that provides two toggles, one to enable the creation of "Team Member Calendar Exceptions" at an organization level when set to "Yes", and another to "Create Exceptions as Inactive" to allow for approval extensibility scenarios. Note, for each resource you would like to be able to create their own exceptions, the toggle on the resource record for "Allow to create exceptions" must be set to "Yes". These resources will then see a link in the "Work" area for "My Time Off" and will be able to create their own exceptions from the table on that page. We also added a view to the Resource IQ Insights report where exceptions can be viewed in a calendar format for Resource Managers reviewing requests for their resources. Demonstrated in the video above.
-
#1100, #1116, #1201: Provide visibility to Synced Tasks in Read-only Power Apps view or Widget Dashboard DisplayWe've added the ability for clients to visualize their tasks synced from external systems in the method of their choosing. For each external system, clients can choose to display their tasks in a "Read-only sub grid" (as a task list in a Power apps view) or as a "Widget Dashboard" that shows metrics and charts more suited to agile or "board-like" external execution tools. We hope to add additional task visualization options in the future. Demonstrated in the video above.
-
#1159: Inclusion of "Draft" status dates in Resource Plan Tooltips (UserBack)Through UserBack, we heard that it would be beneficial to have even "Draft" status request dates used in determining the start and finish for requests in the Resource Plan so that Project Managers can quickly view the information they may have entered but not yet submitted. These draft status request days are also used in the "Scroll to Start" function for the Resource Plan only.
-
#1154, #1232: Filters for Active Resources and Banner/Warning indicator on Resource Plan when Inactive Resources are used (UserBack)Several of our clients have a resource pools that change frequently with the onboarding and offboarding of resources in various roles and suggested through UserBack that we provide a visual indicator for resources that are inactive on the resource request pages. As a solution to this, not only have be provided a banner and warning indicator for Project Managers on the Resource Plan tab for a project, but we've also filtered inactive resources from the Resource Demand and Resource Availability pages by default (individual users can remove the filter for their session if desired). Demonstrated in the video above.
-
#1155, #1187, #1194: "Show Active Projects Only" filter option for Resource Request pages (UserBack)We heard from you that viewing only projects that have a status that would be considered "Active" in the resource request pages (Resource Demand, Resource Availability and Resource Allocation) would be very helpful in removing clutter for projects not considered active. We've added a configuration setting to set the status(es) your organization considers "active", and when the filter is enabled, "non-active" projects will not be considered in the calculation of availability. As part of this, in order to display relevant data to the user, we've added the "Status" for the project to the project tooltip displayed on resource request pages (#1187). To ensure that this filter is also available on Resource IQ Insights Request pages, we've added the "Initiative Status" column to the page-level filters on the filters pane for this report (#1194). Demonstrated in the video above.
-
#1166: Protect Required column on Config Settings from User ModificationWe've locked the "Name" column for our config settings, which refers to the internal name of the setting used by the solutions to reference the setting for functionality so that administrators cannot inadvertently disrupt functionality by modification of the setting name.
-
#1088: Improved Portfolio, Program and Role LookupsThe data shown when associating a project to a portfolio or program, or resource to their role has been updated to show more useful information to assist in making the correct selection.
-
#1020: Customizable labels on Project Change Request Summary ControlWe've added the ability to change the label shown for "Change Requests" on the Project Change Request Summary PCF control. This is to support organizations that don't use the term "Change Requests" and may call these items by some other name.
Fixes:
-
#1115, #1133 Removed banner on Resource Request grids indicating that the project was not associated with an O365 group when committing resources.
-
#1164 Changed the filter for "Show Unfulfilled Requests Only" for the "Resource Plan" request page to the original default of OFF.
-
#1152 Reduced "flicker" in Strategic Goal form tabs by hiding tabs by default.
-
#1038 Removed unused columns in Project for the web Project Sync dataflow to better utilize auto map feature from Microsoft.
-
#1175 Added "Search" bar to the Resource Availability Heatmap page with the same logic as other Request page search bars. Search term will match to Project name and Resource name.
-
#1163 Resolved issue where 'Sensei IQ' Teams Channel Tab (Power Apps) was not loading correct data for Programs or Portfolios.
2024.06.11.4
SenseiControlsV1 (2024.06.11.1), Kaizen and Atsumeru (2024.06.11.4) Solutions released on 12 June 2024
This update is an interim release to provide for fixes to a few bugs identified by clients. Expect a larger release later in Q3 focused on Resource Management improvements.New and Improved:
-
#1109: New Configuration Setting for Strategy Management ModeTo support the two modes for Strategy Management, we've added a configuration setting that hides the "Benefits" links for those organizations that are focused on Strategy Alignment only without the usage of Benefits and Benefits Tracking. For those organizations that require tracking benefits, they can enable the "Strategy Realization" mode. Note, this setting will not affect the visibility of Strategic Goal form tabs, as that is handled in a separate setting.
-
#1086: New Configuration Setting for User Feedback CadenceWe've added a setting to allow organizations to control how often (in days) that their users are prompted for feedback on Sensei IQ.
-
#1073: Reset all Settings to Default option for Configuration SettingsWe've added an option (with protections) to the Configuration Settings page that allows for a Sensei IQ Administrator to reset all configuration settings to their defaults. This allows for a "quick restore" to the default state for a Sensei IQ Deployment.
-
#1108: Slight Change in Resource Request Tooltips (UserBack)Due to the way that some organizations utilize "Shift" for Resource Requests, old dates were being used in the "Request Start" and "Request Finish" for the tooltips. We've changed the logic to ensure that only non-zero values are used in the tooltips.
Fixes:
-
#1130 (Direct Client Communication) We are now hiding availability where it offers no value (i.e. against project rows) in the resource request and availability focused pages, and only showing availability for resource rows and resource row groupings. As part of this work, another issue was fixed where if a resource was fully allocated to their capacity, remaining availability showed as full capacity.
-
#1143 Resolved issue where when using the Power Apps form drop down menu to switch forms, Project tabs did not display as expected.
-
#1161 Fixed a problem that intermittently occurred where form tabs and BPF did not show on the Project form without a manual form refresh.
-
#1099 Pre-validation Plugin Step added. In rare cases some users were able to duplicate timesheet rows even with our key constraints in place. This step will remove duplicate rows if detected.

New and Improved:
-
#480, #901, #942, #973, #1018: Sensei IQ Teams App Improvements (UserBack submissions)We've improved a number of usage scenarios in our Sensei IQ Teams app. When Microsoft pushed users to switch to the "New" Teams last month, we experienced issues in how this new version provided "Website" access in channel tabs as Microsoft deprecated access to "Website" focused channel tabs in Teams Desktop. We've altered the app used by the "Sensei IQ" tab to select the "Power Apps" tab instead of website, now offering the same functionality that was deprecated by Microsoft previously. In addition, we've added the functionality to turn off, rename and create new Sensei IQ teams app tabs, even if an app tab already exists for that entity. Finally, we are now selecting the correct "Tasks" channel tab app to use based on the type of external project your Sensei IQ project is connected to. We currently support Planner, Project and Azure DevOps, with a goal to support Jira Cloud in the future (Project Online does not offer a channel tab app for tasks, but this can be added manually using the "Website" tab if desired).Demonstrated in the video above.
-
#1002, #1011, #1012, #1013, #1014, #1015, #1016, #1060, #1067, #1068, #1070: Strategy IQ Improvements to Support Strategic AlignmentAfter many client interviews regarding usage of Strategy IQ, we validated that some organizations were struggling with the various interfaces required to properly input strategic planning elements and needed a simpler format. We have updated the standard out of the box experience to support a more straightforward method of aligning your strategic goals to execution (Projects) and enhanced some of the supporting views and reports to provide users with the data needed to gain insights into their organizational strategy. This 'Strategic Alignment' mode will be the default for Sensei IQ deployments, and organizations can customize and "grow into" additional features such as benefits realization management (BRM) as their requirements warrant. (Reporting improvements requires manual update.)Demonstrated in the video above.
-
#818, #959, #1061, #1062: Key Date Cross-Project Dependencies (UserBack submission)We heard that organizations needed a way to provide their project managers to link projects to one another if there were "external" dependencies from one project to the next. To allow for this, we've implemented "Key Date Cross-Project Dependencies" so that a Project Manager may link their key date to another key date in the system, and review this link as dates may change or slip. On the key date form, we can now review the details of the "Depends On" date, as well as any other key dates that are linked to our key date in a table below our key date's details. A new report page and view have been added to show these details as well. (Reporting improvements requires manual update.)Demonstrated in the video above.
-
#979, #1021, #1036, #1039, #1060, #1062: Power BI Report Updates (Requires Manual Update)We've made a number of small changes to our Power BI reports - more detail can be found here (versions 2024.03.01 and newer): Reporting Versions | Sensei Docs (senseiiq.cloud)
-
#1051: Further advocate for Business Cases as default "Pre-project" initiativeWe've decided to lessen the visibility into the "Proposal" entity in Sensei IQ, as "Business Cases" offer more functionality and support more usage scenarios out of the box. For clients still utilizing "Proposals" please speak with your engagement lead regarding this item prior to upgrading as there will be two post update steps to complete to provide continued quick access to Proposals through the site map and landing page.
Fixes:
-
#1032 (ZenDesk): Resolved an issue with the SetCurrentProjectStage plugin inconsistently setting project current stage to "Finished" when the BPF was complete.
-
#1022 Removed the redundant IQ Icon in Project List views within Sensei IQ.
-
#1028 Added "%" sign to "Target Utilization" column to indicate that this should be considered a percentage of time that the resource should be utilized. Note: this value does not currently impact any resource availability calculations, as that is done through the resource calendar.
-
#1019 (UserBack) Fixed a typo in the "Risk Owner" Description tooltip.
-
#1084 (Direct Client Communication) Fixed an issue where in the "Add Resource" dialog for the Resource Demand Grid, FTE and %FTE were not taking into account the number of periods in view and showing a total value instead of an average.
-
#1074 Fixed an issue where the defaults for certain settings weren't available and improved the confirmation dialog displayed to the user when resetting to the setting default.
Training:
-
In conjunction with this release we have published numerous updates to Sensei IQ training to reflect recent product updates, including My Work app; My Projects app; Business Cases; Project Prioritization; Scheduling with Project for the web; Usability Tips and Hints.
2024.03.15.7
SenseiControlsV1 (2024.03.15.2), Kaizen (2024.03.15.3) and Atsumeru (2024.03.15.7) Solutions released on 19 March 2024
New and Improved:
-
#870, #920, #921, #936, #946: Active Status Filtering for Project Management Artifact Entities (UserBack submission)For Risks, Issues, Decisions and Deliverables, we now are giving you an option in the respective configuration settings to set which status(es) your organization considers "Active". Items that have a status that is considered "Active" will be counted and appear in the respective PCF controls (Status Summary or Risk Matrix). The default "Active" statuses for each artifact will be used by default until adjusted by your organization.Demonstrated in the video above.
-
#916: Cross filter Project, Program and Portfolio Risks from the Risk MatricesUsers can now interact with the Risk Matrices and click on the cells to cross filter the list of risks to the right of the matrix. Leaving the page or clicking the clear filter button will reset the filter. Filters applied to the list (subgrid) will be additive to the matrix filters.Demonstrated in the video above.
-
#941, #994: Resource Request Start and Finish dates on Request TooltipsWe've enhanced the tooltips that were added in our last release to allow for the display of the request start and finish on the tooltip. For non-rollup rows (rows that represent the individual requests) you'll see the request start date and request finish date on the tool tip. For the roll-up rows (heading rows that represent a resource or project) you'll see the "Earliest Request Start" and "Latest Request Finish" for all requests that relate to that resource or project. This will help users in understanding the full range of time they should look at when reviewing unapproved requests or commitments that differ from the original request.Demonstrated in the video above.
-
#938, #939, #968, #993, #986, #987, #988, #991, #1006: New Bookable Resource form tabs (Availability and Timesheet)Two new tabs have been added to the resource record for the main purpose of allowing Resource Managers additional visibility into pre-set/pre-filtered pages that focus on a single resources availability and current timesheet. The "Availability" tab will show the Availability Heatmap pre-filtered for only the current resource. The "Timesheet" tab will default to the current timesheet for the resource, but all controls are functional, allowing resource managers to approve/reject and also recall and adjust a resource's timesheet. Both tabs are available for deep linking from reports.Demonstrated in the video above.
-
#876, #1019: Organizational Maximums and Minimums for Timesheet Submission (UserBack Submission)We heard from you that it would be beneficial to have controls around whether timesheets could be submitted based on their adherence to organizational limits (max and min) for hours on the timesheet (and in a given day). Now your organization can implement a maximum number of hours per timesheet, minimum number of hours per timesheet, and maximum number of hours per day on the Timesheet Configuration setting.Demonstrated in the video above.
-
#940, #990: Auditing Features for Admins on Timesheet Periods (UserBack Submission)We heard from you that administrators need better insights into whether there are still "unapproved" timesheets in any timesheet period before making the decision to close a period. To offer this, we've added a column to the Active Timesheet Periods list view to show the count of any unapproved timesheets in that period. In addition, when clicking to open a period, a banner will display if there are any unapproved timesheets, and the admin can click through to a secondary tab which shows the list of unapproved timesheets, their status, and who to contact (bookable resource and timesheet manager).Demonstrated in the video above.
-
#1000: Timesheet view option - Show only rows with Values (UserBack Submission)Another great idea came in from our user base, suggesting that we have a view option to only show rows in a timesheet that have values (greater than 0) entered on them. This view setting is shown as the "eye" icon in the upper right of the grid controls. When enabled, the icon will be colored red, when disabled, it will be blue.Demonstrated in the video above.
-
#904: "My Active Ideas" viewWe've added a new view for "Ideas". The "My Active Ideas" view will show any idea that you're the owner of that is in the "New" or "Submitted" status.
-
#957: Availability Heatmap calculation for Resources without RequestsWe heard that it was confusing to see resources without requests on the Availability Heatmap grid without having their availability reflect their total capacity (since they do not have current requests). We've altered this calculation to ensure that all resources on the Availability Heatmap show a true reflection of their availability (when this column is turned on in the view settings) based on committed requests and their calendar.
Fixes:
-
#967 (UserBack Submission): Slightly decreased the vertical height of the Timesheet grid to accommodate the action buttons (like "Submit for Approval") at the bottom of the page without vertically scrolling.
-
#980 (UserBack submission/Direct client communication): Updated the "Documents" control/tab to fix the margin issue on the left (caused by Microsoft's "New Look").
-
#998: Fixed authentication to the Sensei IQ Teams app in the "New Teams" desktop client. Note - additional changes are coming in this area (likely in Q2) to support continued usage of the Sensei IQ and Tasks Channel Tabs that must align to Microsoft's new standards for the New Teams Desktop client.
-
#989: Resolved an issue where the baseline finish date, forecast finish date and start date would shift to 1 day earlier in the Status Update persisted information panel.
-
#1009: Fixed an issue where an existing Planner Plan could not be selected when linking a Sensei IQ project when group creation was disabled.
-
#1033: Fixed an issue where the "change resource" text entry box was not accessible due to limited screen space on only the last row of the resource request (demand) grid.
-
#1029: Fixed a typo in Risk Owner description.
